MY TRIP TO
PPWF 2013 & LAKE OF NO RETURN, Myanmar
Day 1 : 19.01.2013 : Saturday
Started from Diphu to Tinsukia by 15603 Up Guwahati-Ledo Intercity Express at midnight. Journey continued by vehicle from Tinsukia railway station. Breakfast at a friend's residence at Tinsukia. Traditional lunch at Singpho Eco Lodge, Inthong Singpho village, Margherita. Followed the historic 'Stilwell Road' ahead of Ledo township (Lekhapani). Crossed the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh Inter-State Border at Jairampur. Reached Nampong at late evening. Acclimatized and overnight Home Stay at the traditional Tangsa hut of Mr. Jankhong Mongre at Nongki village, on the lapse of Patkai range.
Day 2 : 20.01.2013 : Sunday
Visited local Tangsa village and inhabitants. Attended Sunday Prayer Service at Nongki Baptist Church. Enjoyed the inauguration of the Pangsau Pass Winter Festival (PPWF) 2013, a nationally recognized ethnic cultural event held at Nampong of Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh. Witnessed the cultural demonstrations performed by different ethnic communities of Arunachal Pradesh as well as Myanmar. Overnight Home Stay.
Day 3 : 21.01.2013 : Monday
Journey to the Indo-Myanmar International Border by vehicle. Crossed into Kachin State of Myanmar by trekking via Pangsau Pass (the Hell Pass). Day-long visit to the WW-II famous 'Lake of No Return' (the local Bermuda Triangle), Border Market etc. Back to Nampong by evening. Enjoyed the ongoing festival programmes. Overnight Home Stay.
Day 4 : 22.01.2013 : Tuesday
Checked out. Return journey from Nongki village to Tinsukia. Visited the World War II Cemetery near Jairampur, on the way back. Journey from Tinsukia to Diphu by 15604 Down Ledo-Guwahati Intercity Express. Reached home at midnight.
